The full restoration of a historic stone farmhouse on the outskirts of Abergavenny, turning it into a warm and practical family home while keeping the character it was built with.
The kitchen and dining room is the heart of the house. Double-height vaulted ceilings and exposed beams give the room its scale, and the Aga sits in a bespoke housing made from part of a tree that once stood on the property and came down. It is a good example of how we work: using what the site gives us, and finishing it by hand.
Upstairs, the en-suite bathroom is built around a large cast iron bath, placed to take in the view across the Monmouthshire countryside. It is a calm, timeless room, and it completes the restoration.
Throughout the house we kept the original fabric where it was sound and repaired it where it was not, so the farmhouse works as a modern family home without losing its history.
